VIECビクトリア事務所のジェラリーンよりのメッセージです。

Tomorrow on November 11, we celebrate and remember Canadians that died and fought in World War 1. On November 11, 1918 marks the day the war ended.

All over Canada at 11am on November 11, the country takes a moment of silence to remember all of those who were lost.

When you walk around or see a red flower( a poppy) on people’s jackets, they are also showing their respect for those who fought in the war.

You might see the words, “Lest we forget”, or “we remember” around on your social medias.

I would like to share a famous Poem that was written by John McCrae to commemorate those who died.

In Flanders Fields

BY JOHN MCCRAE

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie,

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.
